Retro Book Fair – Retrovárium

Hamerli Courtyard (9 Király Street)

The Retro Book Fair of the Csorba Győző Library first opened its doors in 2010 in the courtyard of 9 Király Street—today known as Hamerli Courtyard—and has been welcoming visitors for seventeen years. Every Saturday, book lovers can browse and purchase reading material for just a few hundred forints.

Retrovárium aims to maintain a community space where visitors can immerse themselves in a nostalgic atmosphere while browsing books, CDs, DVDs and vinyl records. Guests are welcome to read on-site, watch retro television, chat, daydream or simply unwind in a calm and unhurried environment.

Alongside its “3R” philosophy—Relaxation, Regeneration and Recreation—the Retro Book Fair is committed to promoting reading, preserving cultural value, encouraging reuse and helping books find new readers. In this way, it also brings the principles of the Green Library movement to life.
